Congratulations on your new Denture!

  • Routine is your best friend when it comes to long-term survival and comfort of your new teeth – get these habits down pat and get the maximum benefit from your unique hand-crafted smile.
  • VALPAST should ONLY BE CLEANED with VALCLEAN. Follow the instructions provided. You can buy a box from us from the site shop.
  • Don’t let your denture dry out! It can change shape or warp & cannot be repaired.
  • Don’t use hot water for the same reason.
  • Brush your denture DAILY.
  • Brush gums, tongue and palate every morning and prior to insertion. This stimulates circulation and helps remove plaque.
  • Wear your new denture as much as possible when you first bring it home. This will quickly establish any trouble spots which can be adjusted as soon as possible.
  • Chew on both sides of your mouth to keep the pressure even.
  • Look for a cleaner that has the ADA (Australian Dental Association) seal of approval, or use our home-made versions to keep your smile squeaky clean.
  • Do not use toothpaste! Handsoap or dishwashing soap is ok since it has no abrasive.
  • Don’t be tempted into a hard brush! Soft brushes only or your denture will become a hot bed of microorganism action.
  • Dentures are porous – a combination of soaking and brushing is essential.
  • Keep a dedicated brush for your denture, and preferably a denture brush at that. Transferring cleaning solution to your mouth or plaque to your appliance is never a great idea.
  •  Wet your brush or denture prior to scrubbing. Sounds simple, but its vital!
  • All remnants of denture adhesive must be removed. Otherwise layers upon layers of adhesive will build up and can prove almost impossible to remove.
  • Premixing a dishwashing or handsoap solution so all you need to do is squirt it on the surface is an easy way to manage brushing.
  • Brush, or at the very least, rinse after every meal.
  • Get in the habit of filling the sink or laying out a soft towel in case you drop your denture.
  • Read the cleaning routine instructions for important tips regarding what solutions to use when.
